Parmi ces multiples applications, il y a le discours, le texte (littéraire ou non littéraire). C’est dans cette seconde perspective qu’elle est utilisée pour examiner le traité portant création de la Confédération des Etats du Sahel. En effet, le six (6) juillet 2024, à Niamey, a été adopté, par les trois Etats, le Burkina Faso, la République du Mali, et la République du Niger, un traité, mutualisant leurs efforts dans certains domaines. L’analyse exploite les outils de la sémiotique ; elle n’a donc pas la prétention de faire une analyse politique ou juridique ou de toute autre nature. C’est d’ailleurs pour éviter toute ambiguïté que le terme « Sémiotique » apparait dans la formulation du titre. L’objectif de cette réflexion est d’utiliser la sémiotique pour examiner non seulement le contenu, mais surtout les implications d’un tel traité. Semiotics is a discipline, sometimes considered as a science of language (if we consider its connection with linguistics), sometimes as a science of meaning, based on its definition as “General theory of signs and meaning”. Among these multiple applications, there is speech, text (literary or non-literary). It is from this second perspective that it is used to examine the treaty creating the Confederation of Sahel States (AES). The analysis uses the tools of semiotics; it therefore does not claim to carry out a political or legal analysis or of any other nature. It is also to avoid any ambiguity that the term “Semiotics” appears in the wording of the title.
